We have almost come to blows over all the crap he has in our garage. We have been here almost four years and every year he has gone thru the stuff and thrown a lot of it away, but there is still an awesome amount of stuff left. We actually spent the entire beautiful Memorial Day weekend with him sorting thru the stuff yet again and packing some of it for his move to Florida in order to follow his job. There is actually room to park a car in there! But, dont get too excited, appearances ARE deceiving....I was looking for some twine to tie something down and I realized the true state of affairs in there. Camping stuff, fishing stuff, hunting stuff, tools, miscellaneous junk thrown helter skelter in boxes and stuffed in any available space. No element of modern culture makes us want more of what we don't need/shouldn't have/can't afford than TV. Credit may have been the enabler over the past 20-30 years, but TV has largely created the demand for most of the stuff we have. Pull the plug and it'll be a lot easier to let go of all the stuff! Oh, and you'll have more time to delve into your Bible... inadvertant multi-tasking you might say. It might be a good start to turn off your TV! I used to do my own "spring cleaning" when she went to visit her family. When she came home, I would tell her what I did and she would be angry for 3 days. Now, when she goes, I do my thing but don't tell her. She asks me if I've thrown anything away and I tell her I don't know what she's talking about. Now she's only angry at me for 1 day.
