don't laugh, but I use a flowbee to cut my two boys hair and it works great. they had many for sale on ebay and still sell them at flowbee.com. like the clippers (which my husband uses) it pays for itself after a few uses. for me, I USED to cut and highlight my hair at $150 a month, but let my hair go back to its natural color (brunette), and no longer have to worry about that ridiculous expense anymore. to think of the money i've wasted over the years....

Since my son was a baby, he was terrified of getting a hair cut, so I started cutting his hair with scissors and eventually clippers. It saved us so much money, my husband chimed in and wanted his cut, too. Now I cut everyone's hair... except my own (which on occasion I regrettably venture and do). Perhaps one day my husband will learn to cut my hair??? lol

I haven't had my hair cut in almost 6 years! How did I manage to do that?

I started growing my hair out, and then I got dreadlocks four years ago, and I haven't looked back. I also save on shampoo!

Great post. Speaking as someone who is 90% bald, I agree with you. I finally got to the point where it was silly to go to a barber (though I paid less then you being in the military). I purchased the clippers and now cut my own hair and trim my beard. I have gotten it down to where I can do it myself ...... not that I don't trust my wonderful wife, just easier for me.
