I have not officially mentioned this on DFA as of yet, but a few weeks ago I settled a contract with “Nickel” of FiveCentNickel.com to become a regular author on the site! The advent of this opportunity is very exciting and humbling for me. I believe I am one of just two additional authors and am proud to have been considered and selected to contribute to Nickel’s excellent personal finance website.
In my humble opinion, FCN is one of the top personal finance blogs on the Internet, so I am absolutely honored to be along for the ride! I hope to add value to the site with my weekly articles. Nickel has been more than gracious and has given me immense freedom to write on nearly any topic I desire. So far I have been able to contribute two articles that have both been very well received:
- How to Prepare for a Power Outage – Without a Generator – Here I give a list of items to help you be better prepared in the event of a power outage in your area. The post was motivated by a recent power outage we endured, so it was easy to come up with the content!
- Off the Grid and Into the Future – This post gives a brief explanation of how my wife & I go “off the grid” every Saturday as a way to save money, grow our relationship, and increase our self sufficiency awareness. It turned out to be quite a big hit & I’m very humbled by the gracious reception everyone has given it. The article blasted to the front page of Tip’d with 27 Tips in the first day, and even garnered a link from JD Roth on GetRichSlowly.org
Next week I plan to possibly write on the topic of rain water harvesting barrels. My wife & I found a place to pick up some high quality barrels up on the cheap…more on that later!
My posts on FCN will be published every Thursday at 6am EST so make sure you head over there to read and critique my work! I hope you enjoy and are blessed by the content.
Lastly, thanks again to Nickel for this awesome opportunity.
