The government knows nothing about how to handle money. And has no reason to learn. They get all the money they need from us.

Excellent post! Mr.CreditCard is spot on with his assessment of these issues…not to mention the quotes from Proverbs, one of my favorite Bible books! My views on money are definitely influenced by scripture, so I agree with the sentiment that the wayward government spending will be met with bad consequences. Having trust in God will lead to all of your needs being fulfilled. I only came across DFA today, but I’ll be following from here on!

Sometimes it is hard to continually stand up against traditional “wisdom of this world” and present the true “wisdom of the bible” but I always continually rest in the fact that we are doing what is right according to God’s Word! Amen, brother. I’m tired of being called nasty names because I don’t support “free” healthcare for everyone.

Thank you for showing me and my husband that we are not the only crazy couple out there trying to defeat debt and live sanely in insane times. At times people look at us like we have two heads and six arms.

Thanks for visiting Kevin. Although I cannot speak for all Christians, here is my $0.02:

Nowhere in the constitution, or any other forming article of any branch of our government, is the power or responsibility for providing health care given to the federal government.

Personally, I believe the mess we are in is the fault of Christian’s not giving the way the bible teaches. By giving, I don’t just mean of their money… but also of their time.

The role of charity, up until the last 30-40 years, has always been a responsibility of the church… not a government welfare program. People helping people works. Gov’t taking from one to provide for another will never work.

So it is not that Christian’s are against providing health care to people who need it… but more accurately – people who understand roles of governing bodies know that the government should play NO role in health care. And that if/when they do, the program will soon resemble the social security, federal deficit, medicare, or any other failing gov’t program.

I write all this with no guile, and it is just my opinion.

I don’t see how a Christian can be against providing health care to people who need it. I keep hearing that people should take care of themselves from people who grew up with the story of The Good Samaritan.

Very good read, the passages were well chosen!

Universal healthcare is something the US needs, but it needs to be done sustainably, unlike medicare. What’s incredible is how wealthy the government might be if it wasn’t spending so much servicing its debt, financing useless wars, saving foolish companies.

I love this post, and agree with pretty much 100% of what Mr.CreditCard laid out so nicely.

The thing that saddens me is that most people either don’t see it… don’t want to believe it… or simply don’t care.

The best thing we can do is just make the changes in our own lives… and be a strong example to others in our circle of influence.

Great post – and very astute observations. Our government really is spending like an irresponsible parent right now, and we will be paying the consequences for generations to come. If only our government followed biblical principles of finance, we’d be in a much better place.

Great post! I appreciate the biblical principals as the Bible should direct our lives, especially our finances! The govt is foolish to think social healthcare is even viable (or wise) with Social Security/Medicaid/Medicare/etc are facing major disaster.
