There are also origination fees that should be taken into account when applying for a loan on LC and Prosper. Interesting that you were able to lower your rate by consolidating there. If you're disciplined enough not to charge up your cards again it sounds like a good plan. Why won't the Lending Club accept people with poor credit scores to help them rebuild thier credit ratings? I have a really bad credit rating, I have a fulltime job but finances have fallen behind due to marriage breakdown and I cant get a loan for the life of me because of a poor credit score. That includes a debt consolidation loan. So where does someone go to get the help they truly need that isnt a payday loan? Question? My only concern is how it would affect my debt snowball. My highest interest credit cards will be paid off this year with my snowball so I don't know that taking out a consolidation loan would have any advantage.
