Yes, He is telling us that we need not waste time worrying about the future. He will provide us with what we need because He loves us. He wants to give us every opportunity to choose to live our lives for Him and to have our mansion in Heaven. He knows we need food and clothing and shelter. Trusting the unknown and the unseen is difficult, but is the very definition of faith.

I resemble your comment as well. The older I get the more I too need to cling to Him. It reminds me of this bit of wisdom from Ecclesiastes 11:9-10, “Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

May God richly bless you this day, my boy. That chapter in Matthew keeps me going in good times and troubled times, too. Americans are prone to the sin of self reliance; I believe it is built into the nature of our countrymen. It is a quality that we admire and therefore, it is very difficult to view reliance on the Lord as a virtue. It seems to us to be more like weakness than strength. I am finding as I get older and less physically strong that it is easier to believe and to integrate the necessity to rely on the Lord. He is taking away my own strength, but replacing it with His never ending strength. It is too bad that we are so stiff necked that things must be taken from us before we recognize the gifts that are ours for the taking! Thank you for your heart for the Lord!
