Weekly Christian Wisdom – Personal Finance Christians – 4/9/2009

04.09.2009 by Matt Jabs //

Each week I post at least five helpful articles written by Christian personal finance authors from around the web. I pray the Lord uses these weekly posts to help others to draw others closer to Christ and closer to a debt free life.

This Weeks Helpful Articles…

  • Pete from Bible Money Matters saved us a bunch of time by doing valuable research on a government program Making Home Affordable Refinance & Loan Modification possible, and gives us the information we need to see whether or not we qualify.  ~@MoneyMatters
  • Bob at Christian Personal Finance talks about how to control spending by placing control of our spending in God’s hands & not our own.  ~@christianpf
  • NCN gives us 6 ways on how to avoid overdraft fees, which can save you so much if implemented as NCN lays out in his article. ~@NCN
  • Jay Peroni shares a story on the importance of contentment.  This is one of my favorite lesson topics because it can help any person be happy in any situation regardless of how much or how little they have.  ~@jayperoni
  • Mark Biller with Sound Mind Investing teaches us how to create your Own Personal Financial Plan.  Although this article is far from new, the wisdom it gives us is timeless.  ~@SoundMindInvest

My Thoughts…

All of these articles are excellent resources for Christians to pour over & glean wisdom from.  I praise God for men & women who utilize the Internet as a tool to spread the wisdom of God’s Word!

DFA is passionately dedicated to helping others break the bondage of debt using biblical principles.

DebtFreeAdventure.com Improves Site Reliability

04.04.2009 by Matt Jabs //

My apologies if you have had trouble visiting DebtFreeAdventure.com over the last few weeks.  We have been having trouble with our hosting company and have since made the move to better, more reliable environment.

We were hosting with DreamHost in a shared environment – but they kept killing the processes running our web server.  The result was, DFA would go down several times a day for around 30 minutes each time.  Since I have big plans for Debt Free Adventure, and plan to have it around for years to come I have decided to make the move to a more reliable VPS hosting environment.  I am actually making the move with a long time friend & blogging partner of mine – K of Shankrila.  We decided to go with www.Linode.com and are very happy thus far.  As a matter of fact DebtFreeAdventure.com is residing there right now, so if you are experiencing any strange behavior, please report it in the comments. We did have a few issues along the way but have succeeded in bringing everything back online & fully operational.  The speed has greatly improved since the move and I’m happy to say that the site has not randomly “gone down” since – which is very refreshing and satisfying!

My hopes & goals for moving DFA revolve around providing my readers with a more stable and reliable source for bible based personal finance information. I am excited about the move and now plan to shift my focus back to writing great articles to help you & I move closer to our goals of becoming debt free.  Thank you for your patience during site outages, operations will be much improved from here forward.

What Do You Think of the DFA Makeover? RSS Readers Welcome!

03.28.2009 by Matt Jabs //

Yesterday we were very happy to release a new site design for DebtFreeAdventure!

We decided to go with the new design because we thought the old design was too busy & too congested.  It was a little hard to navigate and didn’t really provide a good user experience.  There were no solid focal points to draw the reader from place to place making it a little difficult to “take it all in.”

Our goal with the new site is to provide readers with a cleaner more user friendly interface, and to continue our focus on great content for reader enjoyment.  Of course we cannot solidify the changes, and truly provide the best experience unless you help us!

So go grab a cup of coffee, put your feet up & take a look around.  We have provided the following screen shots for your comparison…now all you have to do is tell us what you think!

Do you like the new design better?  Why or why not?

Thank you all very much for your time & your comments, and thank you again for reading!  We pray that even one would be blessed by the content we provide, and hope you return often & comment frequently.  God bless.
