Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. ~ Proverbs 30:8-9
What is The 10 Day Give?
Beginning October 1st, and graciously organized and administered by Bob Lotich of ChristianPF.com, the 10 Day Give is a call for each of us to put feet to our faith and give of our time, money, and resources to help those in need.
This is how Bob explains it…
The 10 Day Give is a challenge that is designed to help us get our minds off of ourselves and start thinking about how we can help others.
The thing is, I think most people really want to make other people’s lives better, but with everything going on all around us all hours of the day, we just don’t get a chance. This is an opportunity to choose, on purpose, to give of ourselves. There really are hundreds of opportunities that we overlook each day. My goal is to just grab hold of one of them each day.
For some people that means giving money, for others time is far more precious than money, and for others it may mean their expertise in an area. But, no matter who you are, we all have something to give.
It could be taking someone out to lunch, it could be babysitting for an overworked mom, it can as simple as giving your precious time by taking your mom to the park to talk. There are no rules, no judges, and no right or wrong ways of completing the challenge.
A little about my giving story…
I am one of those old school dudes that actually believes what God says is true… not some of it… 100% of it. But I was not always this way…
In His goodness God blesses man with the faith to believe in His Word. For many years I tried to deny the counsel laid out in the scriptures, and it caused me nothing but heartache and trouble. But God is faithful… and once I took Him at His Word the blessings came… and have never ceased since.

A Closing Thought on Giving…
To a lot of people, giving is a burden. Others don’t think of it as a burden per se, but still approach their giving with a level of indifference and/or obligation. Still more people mistakenly think that giving gets them to heaven. None of these viewpoints are accurate and the latter is simply fallacious!
The act of giving is one of the highest God given blessings attainable to man, but those blessings are 100% dependent upon the attitude with which we give.
Before you join us in “The 10 Day Give” I challenge you to consider your own attitude toward giving. Do you give? Do you give with joy? Do you give with joy and great thankfulness toward God for the opportunity? You see… the recipient is not the one who stands to gain the greatest joy from the gift – but rather the giver!
Think on these things then…
